Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva 2012 has been honored as “Best in Show” after receiving 97 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2019, standing out among the top wines in the world as the only D.O.Ca Rioja wine to win the award. 16,500 wines were submitted to compete in this year’s event.
Decanter is the most influential wine-specialty magazine in the United Kingdom and one of just a few such magazines with global reach. Every year they hold this competition in which a jury, composed of over 280 experts from around the world, including 70 Masters of Wine, does a blind tasting of each wine. Wines that earn a score of at least 97 points are tasted again to determine a single winner for each category.
Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva is crafted with tempranillo grapes from the winery’s own vineyards, located in Cenicero for over half a century. It is barrel aged for over two years then rests in the bottle for three further years, seeking to capture the traditional essence of the great Rioja wines.
Without a doubt, our Coto de Imaz Gran Reserva was chosen as the best thanks to its finesse, elegance, and complexity. Cheers!
